  1. What certification track would you recommend for software testers?

  2. I suggest :

Start with basic, like ISEB/ISTQB foundation,
    Move to Advanced level

    Then probably- CSTE/CSTM

By now, you can also take up a automation tool cert. like HP QC/ QTP(In my case)

Now u r cert in Manual & automation but thats not sufficent for cut-throat competition.

Go for a Domain certification, something you've been working on..like Banking/Insurance/Telecom....

Now, CSQA is apt by this level (See your confidence!!!)

You are all set to hit the market!! All the best!

  3. People who invest a day ( or less ) of memorizing ISTQB Foundation summaries / text books and pay ~100-150$ for the exam - can receive the Certification.

where does that stand with the 24 benefits you mentioned?

What is needed is actual intent / Curiosity / and Will of the Person In question to raise himself above the competition - AFAIK there is no actual High Profile Accredited Testing ( not QA! ) Certification/Degree that is worthwhile getting - let alone Recruiters demanding it.

Testing is nearly almost Experience and Hands On Based Career + many attributes that can hardly be taught in such certification courses...

  4. I agree with Eyal, it good to have the certificate, but in the end its about having hands on experience that good you through the door at the end of the day. I have the ISTQB and i would say there are about 30% relevance to what is used in a work environment. the rest is theroy.

I was thinking about doing my Cisco networking certificate, but the cost of the course would bankrupt me. will have to either get another job that pay more or persade my employer to stump up the money..... dont think that will happen

    kind regards
